William graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1988 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
He began his career working in Washington DC as a Program Manager working with the Marine Corps
developing a mobile, secure tactical communications system. After working with the Marine Corps, he
went to work at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) as a Lead Program Manager
for their Tactical Technology Division.
William left government work in 1996 to pursue a career in the telecommunications industry. He began working with MCI as a senior program manager leading efforts to implement MCI’s largest and most complicated customer networks. After MCI he went to work for Century Link (then Qwest) where he gained his first experience in working with a start-up. At Century Link he worked extensively developing new process and procedures, cross-organizational team building, and improving operational efficiencies.
In 2004 William moved to Phoenix to start up a wireless broadband internet company. He led company operations growing the business from zero to 6000+ customers in the first three years. William also participated in the successful raising of $60M in Federal small business loans to grow the business throughout Arizona and Florida.
At this point William left to pursue his own business endeavor starting a commercial property maintenance company. As much as he enjoyed being entrepreneurial, he enjoyed raising his two young children Aidan and Alana even more. He loved spending timing coaching his son’s little league baseball team and attending Alana’s dance recitals and volleyball games. William successfully operated the company for over ten years until he exited the business in 2019 to pursue new endeavors in the consulting and golf industries.
William is a firm believer in the concept of “passing it on”. With that in mind joining John Waters Consulting was the best way to share the knowledge and experience he’s gained over his thirty year career with other entrepreneurs and start up’s. John’s focus on small to medium sized businesses proved to be a perfect match.
In his personal time William is an avid golfer and squash player, and loves everything outdoors such as fishing, surfing, mountain biking, and snowboarding.
